Learn how to connect Kobo with StoryGraph to automatically sync your reading progress, understand how the integration works, what data is shared, and why your progress may not always match exactly.
What does this integration actually do?
It’s the end of manual logging. Once you connect your accounts, your Kobo device and StoryGraph profile start talking to each other. Your reading progress—how far you’ve read, when you read, and when you finish a book—syncs automatically, so you can spend your time getting lost in stories, not updating spreadsheets.
How does the reading progress get updated?
We send your progress as a percentage, and StoryGraph handles the rest, automatically adapting it to the page count or audio minutes of the book you’re reading.
A note on 'Did Not Finish' (DNF) tracking: We like to keep your shelves as tidy as your reading habits. If you mark a book as 'Finished' on your Kobo while your progress is under 90%, it will be categorized as 'Did Not Finish' on your StoryGraph account.
How do you connect the two accounts?
Head to your account settings on Kobo and look for ‘Integrations.’ You’ll be guided through a quick, secure setup that takes about 30 seconds.
Is this free? Do I need a special subscription?
It's completely free for all Kobo account holders and all StoryGraph users. No Kobo Plus or StoryGraph premium subscription is required.
What reading data is shared?
We keep it focused on your reading life: the books you’re reading, your progress (percent complete), session timestamps, and finish dates. We do not share financial info, device identifiers, location data, or browsing history. Your privacy is our priority.
What about books I’ve sideloaded?
Currently, this sync works for books purchased from the Kobo store or read via Kobo Plus.
What if my book isn't found on StoryGraph?
StoryGraph will attempt to match your book automatically. If a match isn't found, StoryGraph will create a new record based on the information we send, ensuring your reading is always captured.
Can I disconnect at any time?
Absolutely. You are in control. You can disconnect from your Kobo Integrations page or your StoryGraph settings whenever you like. Disconnecting stops all future syncs immediately.
Is this available globally?
Yes, the integration is available globally.
