Try these steps if you have issues with your eReader.
If your eReader is frozen or unresponsive:
Charge your eReader
If you see a black screen or if your eReader is unresponsive, the battery may be depleted.
Try charging your eReader for at least one hour.
If you notice that your Kobo eReader is performing slower than usual while it's plugged in using a USB cable, the issue may be caused by a faulty charging cable. Try using a different USB cable to see if your eReader's performance improves. When possible, use genuine Kobo cables and chargers.
If your eReader's battery is completely drained, it can take up to 15 minutes before it responds to being connected to power.
Recover your eReader
After charging your eReader, press the power button for about 2 seconds and check whether the eReader turns on and responds normally.
If your eReader turns on and works as expected, no further troubleshooting is required.
If your eReader remains unresponsive:
- Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds to force the eReader to shut down.
- The LED light should turn off.
- Connect the eReader to a power source.
- Press and hold the power button for approximately 5 to 10 seconds until the LED light begins blinking.
