If you're in a public area–like a coffee shop, hotel, or airport–you may be able to connect to a captive Wi Fi network, also known as a Wi Fi hotspot.
A captive Wi Fi network is a network that needs you to subscribe to or pay to use. Some captive Wi Fi networks may not work on your eReader.
When you sign in to a captive Wi Fi network, you may be asked to read and agree to a set of terms and conditions from the internet provider.
- Go to your Home screen.
- Tap
Sync.

Tap Sync now.
- If you're within range of a known network, your eReader automatically joins that network and will begin syncing.
- If you're not within range of a known network, your eReader will begin the Adding a Network process.
- When your eReader lists available networks, tap the name of the network you’d like to connect to.
- If the network is secured, use the keyboard to enter the password.
- Tap Join.
- If you're still unable to connect, open the web browser to view the terms and conditions:
- Go to your Home screen.
- Tap the
More icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Beta Features.
- Tap Start under Web Browser.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to the network.
