If you live in the United States or Canada, you can purchase additional coverage for your Kobo eReader to extend your warranty plan.

Kobo eReaders have a one year warranty. If you want to extended warranty coverage for your eReader, you can purchase a separate protection plan.

To provide you with the best possible service, we've partnered with a third party protection plan provider called Extend.

How does the coverage work?

Your Kobo eReader comes with a 1 year manufacture warranty.

• If you purchase a 2-year Extend Protection Plan, you'll get a total of 2 years of protection coverage. The first year of coverage will be covered by either Kobo or Extend. The second year will be covered only by Extend.
• If you purchase a 3-year Extend Protection Plan, you will get a total of 3 years of protection coverage. The first year of coverage will be covered by either Kobo or Extend. The second and third year will be only covered by Extend.
  
  

What's included in the Extend Protection Plan?

The Extend Protection Plan covers some items that are not included under the Kobo warranty:

• Protection against accidental damage cause by drops and spills.
• Mechanical and electrical failure breakdowns after the Kobo warranty expires.
• Power surge protection.
  
  

What's not included in the Extend Protection Plan?

The Extend extended protection plan does not cover:

• Cosmetic damage, such as scratches or dents that do not impact the eReader functionality.
• Damage from third-party assembly or third-party maintenance of your product.
• Loss or theft.
• Battery issues.

Note: Claims are subject to inspections by Extend before approval.

How to buy an Extend warranty coverage

The Extend coverage is only available for selected eReaders purchased in the Kobo Store. You can buy the extended warranty within 60 days from the date of purchase.

You can purchase the Extend Protection Plan:

• Through the Kobo store after you buy your eReader on Kobo.com
• From an email link after you buy an eReader from Kobo.com
• From Extend website

1. 1. Visit the Kobo Store and shop for your Kobo eReader.
   2. Follow the onscreen steps to add your selected items to the cart.
   3. Verify the items in your cart. 
   4. Click Add product protection beside the eReader you want extended coverage. 
      
      
      
   5. Follow the onscreen steps to select the protection plan and complete your purchase. You can choose from a 2-year or 3-year protection plan.

How can I file a claim?

The claims will be filled through Extend website: https://customers.extend.com

You can file a claim:

• By giving the same email address that was used to purchase your device from.
• Log in with phone number that was used to purchase your device from.

Once you file your claim and it has been approved by Extend, you'll get a promo code for the value of the eReader purchased that's associated with the Protection Plan.

To redeem the promo code, make an eReader purchase on Kobo Store. During the checkout process, enter your promo code in the 'Discount code' field.
