Add a Wi Fi network to sync your Kobo eReader with the latest books, annotations, software updates, and more.
Your eReader classifies networks in two categories: known and unknown.
-
Known networks are Wi Fi networks the eReader has successfully connected to in the past.
-
Unknown networks are Wi Fi networks that your eReader has discovered but has not yet successfully connected with.
When asked to connect to a Wi Fi network, if your eReader is within range of a known network, it will automatically connect to that network without providing a list of available networks. If there are no known networks available, it will scan the area and list all available networks.
Add a Wi Fi network
You can add a Wi Fi network to your eReader to add books and update your eReader. Read the steps on adding a Wi Fi network to your eReader here:
Add a hidden Wi Fi network
If you have a hidden Wi Fi network, you can connect to it if you know the network name, and network password. Hidden Wi Fi networks cannot be seen when you scan for networks on your eReader.

Edit your Known Network list
Your 'Known Network' list remembers all the Wi Fi networks that your eReader connected to.
You can manage your Known Network list on your Kobo eReader to keep the list from getting too long.

Connect to a Captive Wi Fi (hotspot) network to your Kobo eReader
If you're in a public area–like a coffee shop, hotel, or airport–you may be able to connect to a captive Wi Fi network. A captive Wi Fi network is a network that needs you to subscribe to or pay to use.
