Return a Kobo eReader
If you purchased your eReader from Kobo.com and are dissatisfied with it for any reason, you have 30 days after the date of purchase to return it to Kobo.
To return your Kobo eReader, please contact Kobo Customer Care.
Any delivery fees charged to you to return the eReader to us are your responsibility. Upon receipt of the returned device, Kobo will refund the cost of the eReader to the credit card charged at the time of purchase, less any initial delivery charges.
If you bought your eReader from another retailer, please contact the store where you bought it and ask them about their return process.
Create a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) request
If you've ordered your Kobo eReader from the Kobo Store, you may be able to cancel your order online.
To cancel your Kobo eReader order, your order must be:
- Paid
- Not previously cancelled
- Not previously refunded
- Not shipped
- Placed within 40 days of the shipment date
Follow these steps to cancel your order:
- Go to the Order Status page.
- Enter your order number and email address.
- Click View.
- Click Return your order near the top of the screen.
- Under the 'Reason' drop-down menu, select the reason why you're returning your order.
- Click Submit.
A return request will be created, and you'll see a summary of your return status.
After you've submitted your request, check your email for details on your cancellation.
Return an eBook or audiobook
You may be able to return purchased eBooks or audiobooks from Rakuten Kobo.

Refund your Google Play purchase (Android only)
If you've made a purchase on your Kobo Books app on Android, you can start a refund process with Google by following the steps in this article.
Cancel items in your cart
You can cancel items you've ordered through the kobo.com website. If you change your mind about your order, you can easily cancel it within 8 hours without contacting our customer support.
If 8 hours have passed since you placed your order, please contact Kobo Customer Care.
To cancel an order, follow these steps:
- Go to the kobo.com.
- Hover your mouse cursor over Apps and eReaders.
- Click Where to Buy.
- Click Order Status near the top of the screen.
- Enter your order number and email address.
Note: If you forgot your order number, click Forgot your order number? and follow the onscreen stops. For detailed steps, follow the steps here.
- Click View.
You'll see the Order Status screen.
- Click Cancel items near the top of the screen.
- Beside the item you want to cancel, click the minus icon.
- Under the drop-down menu, select the reason for the cancellation.
- Click Submit.
- Click Yes to cancel your selected items.
What happens next?
You'll receive an email confirmation that your order has been cancelled.
Generate an Invoice
After your order has been processed, you can get an invoice for your own records.
To create an invoice:
- Go to the kobo.com.
- Hover your mouse cursor over Apps and eReaders.
- Click Where to Buy.
- Click Order Status near the top of the screen.
- Enter your order number and email address.
Note: If you forgot your order number, click Forgot your order number? and follow the onscreen stops. For detailed steps, follow the steps here.
- Click View.
You'll see the Order Status screen.
- Click Invoice near the top of the screen.
- Enter in any tax information that you'd like to appear in the invoice.
- Click Submit.
The invoice will be emailed to the address that you used to sign into your Kobo account.
