You can download fonts and load them onto your eReader. This can be useful if certain fonts are easier for you to read.
Loading fonts onto your eReader may be helpful if there's a specific font that is more accesible for you. For example, you can look for dyslexia-friendly fonts and load them onto your eReader.
Supported font types
Kobo eReaders support the following fonts:
- .otf (OpenType)
- .ttf (TrueType)
Note: Some fonts may not render properly on your eReader. If you notice that a certain font isn't working like you'd expect it to, try finding a different version of the font.
Step 1 of 2: Download a font
Look for a font that you'd like to download and save it onto your computer. After you download the font, make sure that that file ends in a .otf or .ttf extension. If your fonts are in a zip file, unzip the file before you copy it onto your eReader.
Step 2 of 2: Load the font onto your eReader
- Connect your eReader to your computer using the USB cable included.
- Tap Connect on your eReader.
- On your computer, open the folder named KOBOeReader.

- Load the fonts onto your eReader:
- Drag-and-drop the .otf or .ttf files into the fonts folder.
Note: If you don't see a 'fonts' folder, create one, and then drag the .otf or .ttf file into the folder. The name of the folder must be named: fonts
- Drag-and-drop the .otf or .ttf files into the fonts folder.
- Eject your eReader from your computer.
Change your reading font
To use the new font that you recently loaded onto your eReader:
- While reading, tap the middle of the screen to bring up the Reading Menu.
- Tap the Text icon.
- Beside 'Supplemental' tap the drop-down menu.
- Select the checkbox beside the font that you'd like to use.
- Beside 'Font Face', tap the drop-down menu.
- Select the name of the font that you want to use.
