Use the Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature a screen reader that will read out loud to you.
Available with iOS Kobo App 11.0 version
- Available for all eBooks in the EU region.
- Outside the EU, TTS is only available on select titles.
Note:
We strongly recommend not using VoiceOver/TalkBack and Read Aloud at the same time on your mobile device or tablet.
Both of these helpful features require access to your device's microphone and/or speaker. Running them simultaneously can cause conflict, such as overlapping, such audio or interruptions, which may prevent either feature from working correctly. For the best experience, we suggest using one at a time. While our app allows both to be active if you choose, you may find it more effective to disable your screen reader VoiceOver/TalkBack when using the Read Aloud for a smoother audio experience.
Activate Text-to-Speech
- While reading, Tap the center of the screen to bring up the Reading Menu.
- Tap the
more options icon near the top right of the screen.
- Tap Read Aloud
Change Voice Control Settings While Reading
- Tap the
Settings icon in the reading control navigation bar.
- To adjust speech rate, slide the bar left or right.
- Tap Language to pick a different language.
- Tap Voice to choose a different voice.
Tip: You can always access these options by tapping the Settings icon while reading.
