You can add non-protected PDF files and non-protected ePub files onto your Kobo eReader.
You can also use Google Drive and Dropbox to load non-protected files onto your eReader.
A few things to remember:
- If your file has Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection, or your file is from a third party, you won't be able to read it on your eReader with this method.
- To add DRM-protected files to your eReader, follow the steps in this article.
- Your content will only appear on the device that you used to import the content. This means that even after you sync, you won't see the item on your other eReaders or apps.
Some USB-C hubs may not detect your Kobo eReader. If you use a USB hub, connect your eReader with a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
Whenever possible, connect your eReader directly to your computer without a hub with the included USB cable. Note: If you're a Mac user running macOS Sonoma 14.4., connecting directly to your computer's USB port without using a hub may solve connection issues.
To add a non-protected PDF or ePub file to your eReader:
- Turn on your eReader.
- Connect the micro USB cable to your eReader and to your computer.
- On your eReader, tap Connect when you see the 'Computer detected' window.
Note: If you don't see the 'Computer detected' window, follow the steps in this article to see USB troubleshooting steps.
- On your computer, look for a drive named 'KOBOeReader'.
- Drag the PDF or ePub files into the 'Kobo eReader' drive.
- Eject your eReader:
Right-click on the 'KOBOeReader' drive on your computer's desktop and click Eject.
- Unplug the USB cable from your eReader.
You'll see a "Importing content" message on your eReader.
To find the file you just added on your eReader:
