What is the Payment Services Directive?
The Payment Services Directive is a new law by the European Commission designed to:
- Reduce fraud by enforcing stronger security requirements for online transactions.
- Create more innovation and competition by allowing third-party payment providers access account holder information from banks. The account holder must give permission to third-party payment providers before they can gather information.
