Add a credit card as a payment method

To purchase items from Kobo.com, you can use a credit card as a payment method.

1. Go to Kobo.com.
2. Sign in to your Kobo account.
3. Click My Account near the top of the page.
   
   
   
4. Click Account Settings.
   
   
   
5. Click the Payment Information tab.
   
   
   
6. Under the Payment Information tab, click Add a Payment Method.
   
   
   
7. Select Credit/Debit as a payment method.
   
8. Enter your credit card details.
   Tip: Verify that your credit card information matches before you go to the next step.
   
   
   
9. Click Save and Continue.
   You'll see a confirmation message after your credit card information is successfully saved.
    

Add PayPal as a payment method

In addition to credit cards, you can use PayPal as a payment method. Follow the steps below to set up PayPal with your Rakuten Kobo account.

1. Go to Kobo.com.
2. Sign in to your Kobo account.
3. Click My Account near the top of the page.
   
4. Click Account Settings.
5. Under the Payment Information tab, click Add a Payment Method.
   
   
   
6. Select PayPal.
   
   
   
7. Click the icon.
8. Enter your PayPal email address or mobile number and click Next.
   
   
   
9. Sign in to your PayPal account using a one-time code:
   
   • Click Get a Code.
     You'll be asked to log in using a one-time code.
     
     
     
   • Check your cellphone associated with your PayPal account and look for a text message from PayPal that includes a numeric code. Enter the code into the empty fields.
     
     
     
   • If you entered the correct code, your PayPal account will be set up with your Rakuten Kobo account. Follow the onscreen steps to complete the set up process.

Delete your credit card information

If you're having trouble purchasing a book, try deleting  your card information and then re-entering your credit card information.

1. Go to Kobo.com.
2. Sign in to your Kobo account.
3. Click My Account near the top of the page.
   
   
   
4. Click Account Settings.
   
   
   
5. Click the Payment Information tab.
   
   
   
6. Beside your credit name, click the menu icon.
   
   
   
7. Click Remove.
   
   
   
8. You'll see a 'Remove payment method?' confirmation message. Click Yes, Remove.
9.  Under 'Payment Method', click Add a Payment method.
   
   
   
10. Re-enter your credit card information.
    
    
    
11. Click Save and Continue.

After you've deleted your credit card information, find the book that you'd like to purchase. Re-enter your credit card information when prompted during the checkout process. 

Update your credit card and billing information

You can add or update your billing address and payment information at Kobo.com.

Before you update your account with a new credit card, here are a few things to remember:

• Enter your billing address and postal code exactly as it appears on your credit card statement.
• If you have trouble purchasing a book using a new credit card, try entering abbreviated and full versions of the street names. For example 'Street' and 'St.', or 'Drive' and 'Dr'.
• If you're a U.S. customer, enter the postal code in full. For example, 00000-0000.
• Ensure that you're entering the address that's associated with your new credit card.
• Make sure that your new credit card has been activated.

When you're ready to add or update your credit card information:

1. Go to Kobo.com.
2. Sign in to your Kobo account.
3. Click My Account near the top of the page.
   
   
   
4. Click Account Settings.
   
   
   
5. Click the Payment Information tab.
   
   
   
6. Beside your credit card name, click the menu icon.
   
   
   
7. Click Edit.
   
   
   
8. Re-enter your credit card details.
   Tip: Verify that your credit card details match before saving.
   
   
   
9. Click Save and Continue.
