If you haven't used your Rakuten Kobo account in over three years, it may have been deleted.
Rakuten Kobo is committed to respecting user data and privacy. As a result, to protect user privacy and comply with data protection standards, Rakuten Kobo has implemented a Dormancy Protocol that removes inactive accounts after a specified period.
Dormancy Protocol:
As outlined in our Privacy Policy, accounts with no activity for over three years are considered dormant and may be deleted. No activity includes:
- No purchases.
- No connection to the Kobo platform either through WiFi or by connecting to your computer.
Note: Accounts that contain purchased eContent or credits are not eligible for deletion under this protocol.
Advance Notice of Account Deletion:
For the initial application of the Dormancy Protocol, some accounts had been inactive for far greater than the immediate past three years. These older accounts—known as the backlog—may have not received advance notice prior to deletion.
Once the backlog is cleared, Kobo will begin reviewing accounts on a monthly basis using a rolling three-year dormancy window. Advance notice will be sent before deleting any qualifying account that becomes dormant going forward.
