Try these steps if you have trouble signing in to your Kobo account.

 

Re-enter your user name and password

  • Make sure you enter your username and password correctly.
  • If you can't sign in, double check that you haven't left the CAPS LOCK button on, or have entered the number zero instead of the letter ‘O’, for example.

You can sign in with your Facebook, Google, Apple, or partner account. If you created your Rakuten Kobo account using your Facebook, Google, Apple, or partner account, follow the steps below to ensure you're signed in to your Rakuten Kobo account properly.

 

Not sure which email account you used to create your Kobo account?

Please use our online chat to determine which email account you used to sign up with Kobo. For example, you might have created a Kobo account using a partner account.

If you're in a country where you have partner stores (for example, Bol.com, Booktopia, or LaFeltrinelli), the chatbot may be helpful to determine all associated email accounts you used to sign in to Kobo.

 

 

 

Sign in with Facebook

Note:

To use your Facebook account to sign in to the Kobo Books app on Android, download the latest version of the Kobo Books App to sign in using your Facebook credentials.

If you're using an older version of the Kobo Books app for Android, you'll see an error message if you attempt to log in to the Kobo Books app using your Facebook account.

  1. Go to Kobo.com.
  2. Click Sign in at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Sign in with Facebook.

Sign in with Google

  1. Go to Kobo.com.
  2. Click Sign in at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Sign in with Google.

  4. Enter your Google account details and click Continue.

 

Sign in with Apple

  1. Go to Kobo.com.
  2. Click Sign in at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Sign in with Apple.

  4. Enter your Apple ID and follow the onscreen instructions.

 

Sign in with a partner account

Some examples of partner accounts are: Rakuten, Fnac, Livraria Cultura, bol.com.

  1. Go to Kobo.com.
  2. Click Sign in at the top of the screen.
  3. Click More sign-in options.

  4. Select your partner account from the list.
  5. Enter your partner account username and password and click Continue.

 

 

 

Verify that you sign in to the correct Kobo account

If you can’t find your content after you sync your eReader or Kobo Books app, you might be signed in to the wrong account.

For example, if you share your eReader with another family member, you might have created two Kobo accounts.

When you buy content from Kobo, you’ll get an email receipt. The email receipt contains the email address that should be used to sign in to your Kobo eReader or Kobo Books app.

If you're having trouble signing in to your eReader with your credentials:

  • Make sure there are no spelling errors when entering your email address.
  • A common error is mis-typing the letter "O" with the number zero. If you have the letter "O" in your account credentials, delete your entry and enter your credentials again.

 

 

Step 1: Find the receipt of the missing content

Browse through your email account and find the email receipt from Kobo.

The email may start with a subject line similar to “Your Kobo Order Receipt for 1 item”. You can also try searching for “Kobo” within your inbox. The email sender will be from “kobo.com”.

Once you’ve found your email receipt, you’ll see the email account associated with the item.

The email will have a message that reads something similar to: “Thank you for your recent purchase from Kobo. We’ve added your item(s) listed below to this account: <your email address here>”

 

 

Step 2: Verify the email address on your Kobo eReader

Verify that the email address from your receipt is the same email address that’s signed in to your eReader.

  1. Go to your Home screen.
  2. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Accounts.
  5. Under 'Kobo', you'll see the email address that's signed in to the eReader.
  6. Verify that the email address that you see is the same as the email receipt.
  • If the email matches: You are signed in with the correct account.
  • If the email does not match: Sign in with the email address shown on your Kobo receipt.

 

 

Step 3: Verify the email address on your Kobo Books app

Verify that the email address from your receipt is the same email address that’s signed in to your Kobo Books app.

Old version of app

  1. Go to your Home screen.
  2. On Android: Tap the Menu icon Menu icon.
    On iOS: Tap the Three dots menu icon More icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Under 'Sign Out', you'll see the email address that's signed in to the Kobo Books app.
  5. Verify that the email address that you see is the same as the email receipt.
  • If the email matches: You are signed in with the correct account.
  • If the email does not match: Sign in with the email address shown on your Kobo receipt.

New version of app

  1. Go to your Home screen.
  2. Tap the Three dots menu icon More icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Verify that the email address that you see is the same as the email receipt.
    • If the email matches: You are signed in with the correct account.
    • If the email does not match: Sign in with the email address shown on your Kobo receipt.

After you confirmed that you’re signed in to the correct account, try syncing your eReader or Kobo Books app again.

If you've tried all the steps above and still can't find your book or audiobook:

  • You may have deleted the item from your account. To get the item back, you can try restoring it from your Kobo account.
  • You may have entered an incorrect email address when you purchased your item. For example, you might have missed a letter when entering your email address and purchased a book.
  • If you see a “Content Lock” or “Authorization” error message, the content you're trying to read needs to be added using Adobe Digital Editions.
